LETTER: Impossible to renew licence in Centurion

Are you experiencing any problems with Tshwane's new online booking system?

Hello Rekord,

To renew your licence you have to book online before you can get helped. Great, SA is moving forward. Or so I thought…

After trying (and I have kept records of each time) 30 times (up to date 04/01/2019, 12:13) to get a slot, I am thinking maybe it’s impossible.

If I had heaps of petrol money (only have enough to be mom’s taxi) to go to Langlaagte there are 2 889 slots available, but zero for Centurion and Midrand.

I cannot get a temporary licence in Centurion, because the system was off.

I cannot call them, because they told me they do not have time to pick up the phone.

They do not know when it will work again. The people working there really wanted to help.

So I used up my last petrol to drive to Midrand. They couldn’t help me.

I have to book online (no slots remember) to apply for the licence renewal and only then can I get a temporary licence. They advised me to keep trying.

I guess the licence renewal dream is only for the rich.

Of course, money can solve all sorts of problems.

But for the ordinary law abiding citizen, it is impossible to renew your licence. I will let you know after how many times I got a slot in Centurion.
