LETTER: Embarrassed to live in the area

"Some security services use the side of the road to urinate and I have reported it to their head offices, but it makes no difference."

A concerned resident writes:

With reference to the article in Rekord on 12 October, dumpers refusing to go away, I wish to add the following:

It is a real embarrassment to live in the area.

It is a hotspot for criminal activities, housebreaking has occurred on several occasion at our home. We never feel safe, day or night.

Air pollution is a severe problem, I have tried so many times to report it to Tshwane metro council, but no one is concerned if you sit and choke in your own house. Anything and everything gets burned and smoke is everywhere.

Some security services use the side of the road to urinate and I have reported it to their head offices, but it makes no difference.

It does not help that everybody talks, and have great concerns about it but nothing happens. There should be more police patrols in the area.

The dumping of garbage happens as if it is not a problem, rats are infesting the area and we have to live with the stench all the time. When our neighbours service their truck they dump the oil next to the road.

We have reported the destruction of the station, a Prasa property, to the police but no action gets taken.

First, the building was vandalised – we listened to the chopping all night long, then the seating was dismantled and carried away piece by piece. Now it is the palisade fencing, that gets chopped off at night and carried away. The phone number on the internet for Prasa does not get answered.

In your article, it was said that residents must be responsible, what a joke. We do not get any help from the council or the police, and what about the pedestrian traffic that goes through the area, burning, stealing, urinating and dumping?

Illegal dumping.
