LETTER: Taxi endangering children’s lives

"At one point the taxi went over a solid white line, disregarding oncoming traffic, to overtake me."

Concerned Akasia resident, B Peter writes:

On Monday 13 August, at approximately 15:05, I was driving on Brits Road and turned into Doreen Road as the traffic light turned yellow.

A white Nissan taxi drove behind me and I saw it skip the red traffic light.

From then on it was driving dangerously close behind me.

I noticed a few children in the taxi, so I gathered it was dropping the kids off at home after school.

At one point the taxi went over a solid white line, disregarding oncoming traffic, to overtake me.

The taxi swerved in front of me, almost colliding with my vehicle.

Further down the road, it overtook another vehicle, also driving over a solid white line regardless of oncoming cars.

I don’t think parents are aware of the danger they put their children in by allowing maniac taxi drivers to transport them to school and back.

It is only a matter of time before that taxi causes an accident.
