Hunt on for Hercules bank customer robbers

Armed robberies in Pretoria have reportedly surged ahead of the festive season.

Pretoria police are hunting for two men suspected of an armed robbery in Hercules on Thursday morning.

Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said the robbers approached a man inside the bank, then escorted him outside where they robbed him of his belongings.

“On the morning of November 23, the victim was inside the bank to deposit money when two unknown men approached him at gunpoint and threatened him.

“They reportedly escorted him outside, then robbed him before fleeing the scene in a silver-grey VW Polo,” Nevhuhulwi said.

“The man was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash.”

She said no injury was reported.

Nevhuhulwi said police were following up on leads to the arrest of the suspects.

She, however, said no suspect had been identified as yet.

Nevhuhulwi urged residents who might have information about the incident to call the nearest police station.

“Police request anyone who may have information that can assist with the investigation to contact the Crime Stop hotline on 08600 10111, alternatively give an anonymous tip-off via the MySaps App.

“All information received will be treated as strictly confidential.”

The Capital City has become notorious for robberies as the festive season approaches.

Recently Rekord reported that a couple was robbed by its employees on a farm in Onderstepoort.

While cleaning a pigpen, the couple was accosted by the robbers.

In another incident, also this week, three men stormed a farm on Gilia Street, Kameeldrift West and assaulted an elderly couple before making off with electric appliances, including a TV and two Samsung cellphones.
