Police recently responded to the scene where a man was found dead on Nduna Street in Atteridgeville after a robbery.
Two workers called out to a house to install a geyser were accosted by an armed man.
“The vehicle that they were driving was marked with their company logo. While they were offloading their tools from the vehicle, they were approached by an unknown man who pointed a firearm at them,” said police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk.
The robber forced the workers to give up their cellphones, camera, wallet and keys to the vehicle then grabbed the speed point machine out of the vehicle as he fled.
“According to an anonymous witness, the deceased was shot by the robber as he ran away,” Van Dyk continued.
The deceased had a bullet wound to his forehead.
“Gauteng emergency services declared the man dead on the scene,” Van Dyk added.
The other worker sustained shrapnel cuts to his right hand and legs.
The value of the stolen property is approximately R1 450.
