Cosatu protest tomorrow to affect CBD streets

The trade union federation plans to march to the National Treasury offices and Tshwane House.

Nine streets in central Pretoria will be affected by the Cosatu march tomorrow, Friday, October 6.

The trade union federation plans to march to demand the implementation of the collective bargaining agreement signed with the South African Local Government Association and to address the socio-economic challenges faced by residents.

The marchers will gather from 09:00 at the Marabastad old Putco depot and march to the National Treasury offices on Madiba Street and to Tshwane House.

They will proceed down Struben Street and turn right onto Sophie de Bruyn Street, turn left at Madiba Street and proceed to the National Treasury at 240 Madiba Street and thereafter to Tshwane House, 320 Madiba Street.

These streets will be affected:

– Struben Street

– Cowie Street

– Kgosi Mampuru Street

– Sophie de Bruyn Street

– Madiba Street

– Bosman Street

– Paul Kruger Street

– Thabo Sehume Street

– Lillian Ngoyi Street

The marchers are expected to disperse from Tshwane House at 16:00.

Tshwane metro police will be deployed to monitor the march and all the affected streets.

Motorists are advised to use the following alternative routes:

– Eskia Mphahlele Drive

– Nana Sita Street

– Francis Baard Street

– WF Nkomo Street

– Bloed Street

– Sisulu Street

– Du Toit Street

– Nelson Mandela Drive
