App aims to improve communication, service delivery in Tshwane

Residents can use it to report service delivery issues, find their nearest voting station, register to vote for the 2024 election, sign petitions, contribute on surveys to improve service delivery and much more.

Thanks to a new App, Tshwane residents now have direct access to their ward councillors to record municipal account and service delivery complaints.

The user-friendly Tshwane DA ward App streamlines communication and collaboration, allowing for improved service delivery problem-solving, while costing residents nothing.

It has a direct link to the emergency services in the city, including the TMPD, police in different suburbs, and the fire and emergency medical services. Incorporating demarcation of the wards, it also reveals all the suburbs in a ward, names of local councillors, and a ward map.

Ward 2 councillor Yolanda Duvenage said this was the useful tool residents needed to interact with local leaders at their fingertips.

“Rather than having to use multiple platforms, emails, and phone calls to report issues or participate in local government, the App streamlines the entire process.”

She said there’s an option to report power failures and view progress updates on the App.

“In the past, residents would have had to go through multiple steps and platforms to report a power failure and track its progress. But with the Tshwane DA ward App, they can do it all in one place.”

Duvenage said this made it easier for residents to call for help when they needed it and kept them up to date on the progress of the response.

“This is another example of how the App is streamlining and simplifying the process of interacting with local government.”

She said the App would have options for petitions and surveys. It empowered residents to be active in shaping the future of their ward.

Duvenage said it was a game-changer that would improve residents’ lives in a variety of ways.

“The features make it easier than ever to be an engaged and active citizen.”

She said residents could also use the App to find their nearest voting station, register to vote in the 2024 election and much more.

It also hosts official WhatsApp groups, for residents to stay up-to-date on the latest news and events in their wards.

“This is a great way to keep residents informed and engaged with their local community.”

Duvenage said it meant no more looking for email addresses or asking for numbers to contact the metro, as this can be done by a push of a button.

She was grateful to councillor Freddie Pienaar for designing the App with the help of councillor Ben Chapman.

“I hope residents will resort to using this App to its full potential to address the service delivery backlog in the city,” said Duvenage.
