New-look Checkers now open at The Grove Mall

“The opening of the new Checkers makes shopping more convenient and it is a great saving for customers.”

A much awaited brand-new flagship new-look Checkers, in the Grove Mall in the east of Pretoria, has finally opened its doors to shoppers.

The store was inaugurated in style on Thursday as it donated R5 000 to Transvalia School for Learners with Epilepsy and Learning Disabilities.

The school is listed as a beneficiary to receive food every day.

A breathtaking musical performance followed, thanks to the Hoërskool FH Odendaal choir who, together with the Checkers employees, made a perfect collaboration.

The event ended on a high note as the ribbon cutting accompanied by the triggering of the confetti cannon were spectacular.

The new store is expected to play a huge role in providing customers with more variety to choose from at the mall.

“It is important to give our shoppers a variety since the areas in Pretoria east including Equestria, Lynnwood, La Montagne and Silver Lakes, among others, have grown so much that our shoppers need a variety,” said Grove Mall marketing manager Christopher Hutchings.

“A customer who visits the Grove Mall has more options to choose from when interested in buying either groceries, clothes, shoes or enjoying entertainment, among others,” he said.

He added that the opening of the Checkers made shopping more convenient and it was a great saving for customers.

When it comes to grocery stores, shoppers can now choose to buy from Woolworths, the newly-renovated Pick N Pay or the new-look Checkers.

He said Checkers has evolved over the years.

“Its new look is amazing. It includes both an in-store Kauai and a coffee bar. Kauai offers popular wraps and smoothies, which are excellent after a long day of shopping. The coffee bar is sure to make you a fresh bean-to-cup coffee.

“It is really special to have a new Checkers in our mall.”

The official opening saw scores of shoppers queuing and waiting patiently for the Checkers to open its doors for the first time.

One of the shoppers, Nicole Wessels, who was the first customer to enter new-look Checkers, said she loved that the store always has the best products for the best prices.

“The opening of the Checkers branch in this mall is very convenient for me. I think a lot of people in the area will enjoy having Checkers close by,” Wessels said.

“Its entrance is close to one of the main entrances of the mall, making it easy to access.”
