Man found dead outside Villieria supermarket

A KPS member was almost killed when fleeing suspects shot at his patrol car earlier in the week.

Kilner Park Security (KPS) had their hands full this week with multiple incidents of violent crime.

On Friday, a man was found dead outside a supermarket on 24th Avenue in Villieria.

KPS was called to the scene and found a man showing no signs of life.

Paramedics were also on the scene and the man was declared dead.

The police have launched an investigation into his death.

In a separate unrelated incident, a KPS patrol vehicle was peppered with bullets on Thursday when a member was searching for suspects who were spotted on one of their CCTV cameras.

The member was patrolling Reyneke Street where the suspects were fleeing on foot when a volley of 15 bullets struck his car.

The driver was lucky to have escaped with his life and an investigation into attempted murder has been launched by the police.

On Monday, KPS managed to stop a vehicle that filled up at a station and failed to pay for their petrol.

Upon further investigation, the team found that the vehicle was stolen.

Statistics from Moot police stations show a general increase in crime over the last six months and residents were urged to be vigilant.

The man was found dead outside a supermarket.
