Irene-Louise van Wyk nominated for two Pretoria FM Aitsa awards

Irene-Louise van Wyk was nominated for Pretoria FM Aitsa Artist of the year and Pop song of the year.

She is a mum, a wife, a business owner, a Pretoria east personality and an award-winning singer.

Irene-Louise hopes to add to this list of achievements Artist of the Year and Pop Song of the Year winner awards for her viral hit Tekkies Brand at this year’s Pretoria FM Aitsa awards following her nomination.

Irene-Louise has lived in Pretoria east all her life, and the community is a big part of her success today. She said she is grateful to be in the community. From photo shoots to music videos, she doesn’t need to look far to do what she does. The community “has been so important to my career”.

But it’s not a surprise that Irene-Louise is so successful in her field. She has four Afrikaans is Groot awards, three gold status songs, one platinum and two Ghoema awards.

Her song, Tekkies Brand, went viral on TikTok last year and she has two new songs out, with a new music video for Beheer Verloor and a new song coming out in the next few weeks.

Irene-Louise continues the legacy of her parents, with her mother being the late legendary singer Irene van Wyk, and her father, the famous music industry promoter Louis van Wyk.

As a mother herself, she believes support networks are the key to success. “It’s all about balance,” she said. “It’s all about your support team and balancing out your life.”

All this experience in the music industry has taught Irene-Louise to stay humble and that one will always reap rewards from hard work.

Asked about her Pretoria FM Aitsa Artist of the Year nomination, she said: “It’s so amazing to be nominated, especially with such amazing other nominees.”

She says she is grateful for being part of this year’s Afrikaans is Groot and looks forward to her upcoming projects.
