Soshanguve and Rietgat SAPS join forces, 250 people arrested this past weekend

The effort led by Brigadier Moses Dladla consisted of three planned phases to cover areas surrounding Soshanguve and Rietgat.

Soshanguve and Rietgat SAPS along with other law enforcement agencies coordinated a multidisciplinary high-density operation that resulted in the arrest of over 250 people in Tshwane this past weekend.

The effort, led by Brigadier Moses Dladla, consisted of three planned phases to cover areas surrounding Soshanguve and Rietgat.

Armed foot patrols were conducted in Rietgat and Soshanguve to ensure that residents and businesses are compliant with regulations. In addition to the patrols, roaming roadblocks between the two police stations were conducted to ensure that motorists were obeying the law.

Among the arrests that were made, five shebeens were raided and shut down, nine suspects were arrested for illegal gambling, a motorist was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a suspect was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle (white Mazda Rustler), another suspect was arrested for possession of a hijacked vehicle (white Ford Figo), and a further three suspects were arrested on drug-related offences.

A suspect was also arrested for unlicensed possession of a firearm and ammunition in Soshanguve, Block H.

The police also managed to issue 17, J534 also known as admission of guilt fines that give offenders the opportunity to pay a small court fine to avoid legal prosecution. These guilt fines solve smaller disputes and save an already inundated court system from taking on additional cases.
