One dead, eight injured in Onderstepoort multiple vehicle crash

One person was killed and eight injured in a multiple vehicle accident in Haakdoornboom Road, near Soutpansberg Road on the M35, Onderstepoort, on Wednesday morning.
Emergency medical services responded to the accident at 06:45, according to Pro Med spokesperson Michael Gough.
“An occupant was still trapped in a vehicle and local fire and rescue services helped to extricate the person from the wreckage,” he said.
“The person sustained severe injuries. Due to the nature of the injuries, Halo aviation’s medical helicopter was used to airlift the occupant to a specialised facility.”
The other persons from the three vehicles involved in the accident were treated on the scene for moderate to serious injuries before being taken to various nearby hospitals.
“The cause and the circumstances surrounding the accident are currently unknown. The scene has been handed over to local police for further investigations,” he said.
