The Gauteng Department of e-Government budget will focus on deploying technological devices to contribute to the fight against the escalating levels of crime.

The budget will be delivered by the MEC for COGTA and Gauteng Department of e-Government, Research, and Development, Mr. Mzi Khumalo at Gauteng Legislature on Thursday.

e-Gov was recently handed a new mandate to fight crime through technology. This involves the implementation of initiatives such as e-Panic Buttons, CCTV Cameras, and Drones. The budget vote will include the provision of the role of the Gauteng Broadband Network (GBN) to increase the connectivity foot, digital services, and ICT Skills Programs for Gauteng residents.
