Pilot killed in light aircraft accident in Pretoria East

A pilot was killed in a light aircraft accident in Pretoria East on Saturday afternoon. Here is the latest.

Paramedics said a pilot was killed in a light aircraft accident in the Boschkop area of Pretoria East on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit team (VEMRU), the accident was reported just after 16:00 on Saturday.

“On arrival, we found a small one-seater airplane that had crashed in a veld, the pilot was assessed and found to have sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on arrival.”

It said the scene was handed over to SAPS, who, along with the CAA, will investigate the cause of the accident.

Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit (VEMRU) is a registered NPO and PBO that responds to medical and trauma emergencies for free.

Meanwhile, earlier on Saturday the search for missing Pretoria man Eric Jones ended in heartbreak when family and friends discovered his lifeless body just 300 metres from where his abandoned vehicle was found in Diepsloot.

Desperate to find answers, friends and family members of missing Eric organised a search in Diepsloot — the area where his locked vehicle was found. Police are currently on the scene with his friends and family members.
