Two Marabastad drug dealers nabbed

The second arrest came on January 9 after receiving a tip-off.

The Gauteng Department of Community Safety (DCS) continue to make strides in the fight against drugs.

The department recently arrested a suspected drug dealer found with 42 packets of drugs on his person.

This comes after an arrest earlier this week of another drug dealer with 31 packets of drugs on January 7.

The second arrest came on January 9 through a tip-off.

Members of the Gauteng Traffic Police Special Law Enforcement Unit, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, and SAPS Reaction Unit were conducting information-gathering operations in the Marabastad area.

They received a tip-off regarding a male suspect reportedly selling drugs at the corner of Jerusalem and 4th streets.

“A search was conducted, leading to the discovery of 42 brown plastic packets containing white powder suspected to be illegal substances. The suspect was apprehended,” DCS stated in a social media post.

The first arrest was of a male suspect at the corner of Bloed and Kgosi Mampuru streets allegedly involved in drug dealing.

Upon searching, the officers recovered 31 brown plastic packets containing a suspicious powdery substance and four small white stones.

This suspect was also apprehended and charged with possession of illegal substances.
