Mams man allegedly shoots girlfriend dead, injures brother, two colleagues

The suspect is expected to appear in court on Monday, on a charge of murder and attempted murder.

The Mamelodi police have apprehended a man for allegedly killing his girlfriend in the early hours of Sunday morning October 6.

The suspect is expected to appear before court on Monday, on charges of murder and attempted murder.

According to Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, the suspect had an altercation with his girlfriend which escalated when his mother and brother intervened.

Nevhuhulwi said the man opened fire, injuring his brother before turning the gun on his girlfriend.

“She was fatally shot and declared dead on the scene,” said Nevhuhulwi.

“He fled the scene and later that day a call was received that the same suspect had shot two of his colleagues and burnt their vehicles.”

Nevhuhulwi said the victims survived and are in hospital.

She said the suspect has since been arrested and the firearm seized.
