The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) recovered a hijacked white Nissan bakkie in Mabopane, north of Pretoria on October 4.

TMPD region 1 task team members received an anonymous tip-off from a member of the public who alleged that a vehicle, suspected to be hijacked in Brits, was in Lethlabile.

Spokesperson Sergeant Rebone Molapo said the members responded instantly.

Molapo said the TMPD will continue to ramp up their effort to fight the scourge of car hijackings across all regions of the Tshwane metro.

“The members, with the assistance of the vehicle tracking company, followed up on the information to a residence in Mabopane, at an informal settlement called Slovo.

Upon arrival at the said location, the members searched the premises but no suspect was found,” said Molepo.

Molepo said the abandoned vehicle was recovered and handed over to the SAPS for further investigation.

The TMPD urged anyone with information about this case to visit their nearest police or contact the TMPD on 012 358 7095/7096.
