CBD roads near reserve bank to be closed for two weeks

The South African Reserve Bank construction work is scheduled from October 4 to 17.

The TMPD advises central motorists to take note of the following road closures due to construction at the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) from October 4-17.

Helen Joseph Street between Sisulu and Du Toit Street will be closed during this period to allow for the disassembling of tower cranes at the construction site at SARB. This closure will be effected after the afternoon peak hours.

The following streets around the SARB are already partially affected by the construction where only one lane is closed:

-Du Toit Street between Madiba and Helen Joseph Street

– Helen Joseph Street between Sisulu and Madiba streets

– Madiba Street between Sisulu and Du Toit streets

– Sisulu Street between Du Toit and Madiba streets

Where necessary, motorists are encouraged to avoid these streets and use the following alternative roads:

– Johannes Ramokhoase Street

– Lilian Ngoyi Street

– Nelson Mandela Drive

– Pretorius Street

TMPD officers will be deployed to all affected areas.
