Pedestrian killed in Centurion accident

A pedestrian was killed in an accident on Tuesday evening on the corner of Thrichardt Road and Cradock Road in Lyttleton.

Paramedics said a pedestrian was killed in an accident on Tuesday evening on the corner of Thrichardt Road and Cradock Road in Lyttleton.

According to Cert-SA, their Centurion crew responded to the accident at about 20:38.

“On arrival, it was found that a local CPF patroller from the Lyttleton sector had initiated CPR in a valiant effort to save the patient’s life.

“Sadly, the patient succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.”

It furthermore said the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not clear at this time, and police have opened an investigation.

“Thanks to Emer-G-Med (Pty) Ltd , Gauteng Emergency Medical Services , SRU Security, Lyttleton CPF, SAPS, Precision Towing, FirstHelp Towing, and PRSS Security for the assistance on the scene.”

CERT is a non-profit and public beneficiary organization.

“We are solely reliant on donations to keep providing our services to the community free of charge.”

Meanwhile, in other news, the police have warned about online scams where criminals post fake advertisements on social media to steal money from unsuspecting buyers.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Connie Moganedi, investigations have revealed that most victims deposit a large sum of cash and buy an advertisement or a picture published on social media platforms, only to discover that the seller does not exist.

“Members of the public are therefore requested to be aware of cybercriminals who target online payment platforms and online marketplaces to steal victims’ money and to ensure the credibility of the seller before they can purchase any advertised item.”

She said while some scammers will just publish an advertisement so that you can pay money directly to them, others will be less obvious.
