Anyone with information that can help solve the case must contact their local police or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

Police in Stinkwater near Hammanskraal, north of Pretoria are requesting community assistance to find a suspect who allegedly stabbed and killed his girlfriend.

Koketso Manganyi (18) from Modilati Secondary School was found stabbed in the chest on September 7 at around 19:00.

According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan Van Dyk, the Grade 12 learner was stabbed by her boyfriend multiple times on the upper body during the night.

“A murder case has been opened and no arrests have been made at this stage,” said Van Dyk.

He said the teenager was last seen going to visit her boyfriend.

“On September 8 at about 08:30 police attended the murder scene where she was found lying on the grass with multiple stab wounds.

“A broken bottle of beer with blood stains was found next to the body and the deceased was found half-naked.”

Education activist Hendrick Makaneta has condemned Manganyi’s brutal murder.

“This senseless act of violence has left us shattered, and we can only imagine the unbearable pain and grief that the Manganyi family, friends, and community must be enduring.

“Manganyi was a young woman with dreams and aspirations, trying to create a future for herself. It cannot be correct that her life was cut short in such a brutal manner. Her potential, her talent, and her life were senselessly taken away, leaving behind a trail of devastation,” said Makaneta.

He called on law enforcement agencies to work around the clock to ensure that justice is served.

“We also call on our government, communities, and stakeholders to work together to ensure safe and secure schools.

“The brutal murder of Manganyi is a wake-up call for our society to take action.

“We cannot continue to lose lives to senseless violence. We must create a society where every child can learn, grow, and thrive without fear.”

The police have urged anyone with information that can help solve the murder case to visit their nearest police station or contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
