Sinoville commander to hang up criminal chasing boots after three decades of service

After a distinguished career spanning over three decades, the Sinoville police station vispol commander Lieutenant Colonel Xolani Nduku is set to retire.

Nduku’s departure marks the end of an era for the local community and the force he has faithfully served with unwavering commitment.

He served as a police officer for 35 years. He has served in Sinoville for the last three years where he diligently fulfilled his role as vispol commander.

Nduku’s tenure has been characterised by a steadfast dedication to public safety and a progressive approach to law enforcement.

Joining the SAPS in the late 1980s, he rose through the ranks with a blend of integrity, innovative leadership, and an unrelenting focus on community engagement.

“As a police officer, you come across a lot of challenges, especially with criminals ruining people’s lives out there.

“I started to work for a police station in Moroka, Soweto in Johannesburg as a constable and worked myself through the ranks up until captain,” said Nduku.

Nduku mentioned that community engagement with the police is what attracted him to come to serve the Sinoville station.

“What people don’t know is that this community is very supportive when it comes to working with the police.”

He said even though he is going to retire, he will continue being part of the community and help police fight crime in the area.

“I am very happy to have served the police for this long, I worked hard to be where I am today and no one gets to work for this long and do what they love”.

As Lieutenant Colonel Nduku prepares to retire by the end of September, his colleagues took the opportunity to express their gratitude.

A farewell event was organised to honour his contributions.

Sinoville station commander Colonel Gerald Witbooi said Nduku’s dedication and his visionary leadership have made a profound impact on Sinoville.

“It’s been a pleasure to work with Lieutenant Colonel Nduku. He was always willing to assist the community and I would like to wish him well in his retirement,” said Colonel Witbooi.
