An alleged business robber was shot and killed while another was arrested after a high-speed chase in Centurion.

According to police spokesperson, Colonel Noxolo Kweza, the third alleged business robber, managed to evade arrest and is still at large.

“Police responded to a shooting incident in Centurion. This was after a vehicle was identified as a lookout vehicle and spotted by security personnel in the Lyttleton area, prompting a high-speed chase.”

Kweza said during the pursuit, suspects fired at the security team, who returned fire.

“One suspect was shot and killed while another was taken into police custody. The driver escaped, abandoning the vehicle on Ruimte Road.”

She said police recovered a firearm at the scene and the vehicle, which was reported stolen in Boschkop.

Meanwhile, in other news, the Mamelodi police need help in finding a man who’s been missing since last Thursday.

Armando Cruz Cuambe from Emalahleni, who works as a cobbler near Fourways, Tsomo Street, Mamelodi East, went missing on August 22.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Daphney Maila said Cuambe was last seen wearing yellow trousers and a white t-shirt.

He was reported as missing by his brother on August 24.
