Centurion girlfriend killer to learn fate in October

According to NPA spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana, state prosecutor Advocate David Molokomme adduced evidence that proved that Kekana was guilty of killing Joels.

A 39-year-old from Olievenhoutbosch in Centurion is set to appear in the Pretoria High Court in October for sentencing after being found guilty of murdering his 37-year-old girlfriend.

Ngagalela Kekana was found guilty of murdering Realeboga Geigia Joels in 2022.

National Prosecutor Authority (NPA) regional spokesperson, Lumka Mahanjana, said the court’s decision was made after a thorough examination of evidence.

Mahanjana said on October 21, 2022, Kekana visited Joels at her home in Olievenhoutbosch and during the visit, neighbours reportedly hearing the couple arguing.

“Kekana left the following morning, Joels’ landlord together with the neighbours entered the shack and found her lifeless body on the bed,” she said.

Mahanjana said police were called to the scene and Kekana was arrested when he returned to the scene that same day.

She said he pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder and told the court an unknown person killed his girlfriend after he left.

“However, state prosecutor Advocate David Molokomme adduced evidence that proved that indeed Kekana committed the offence,” she said.

Mahanjana said Judge Papi Masopa found the state had been able to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt.

“The case has been postponed to October 14, for sentence proceedings,” she said.
