Police arrest four, recover stolen vehicle, discover drugs worth thousands

The three suspects in Pretoria North were found in possession of 263 packets of crystal meth, 57 mandrax tablets and 167 packets of heroin.

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) recently arrested several suspects for possession of drugs estimated at a collective value of R35 000, while also recovering a vehicle hijacked in May.

The arrests took place in different operations.

On August 18, the TMPD Drug Unit arrested three suspects for possession of drugs in Pretoria North.

This comes after officers received information about people selling drugs in the area.

Metro spokesperson Sergeant Rebone Molapo said police investigated the matter, which led them to arrest the three men.

Molapo said the suspects were found in possession of 263 packets of crystal meth, 57 mandrax tablets and 167 packets of heroin, with an estimated street value of R20 000.

“The suspects were arrested for possession of and dealing in drugs.”

Molapo said the drug unit also made another arrest in Pretoria West, where a 42-year-old Cameroonian was found with crystal meth worth an estimated street value of R15 000.

The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of and dealing in drugs.

“A 28-year-old male was found in possession of a hijacked vehicle in Atteridgeville.

“The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.”

He said the arrested suspects are set to appear at their respective magistrate’s courts soon.
