The Reeds water maintenance moved to Wednesday

The work on the water supply network is expected to take eight hours, from 08:00 until 16:00.

Tshwane has receded an eight-hour-long water supply interruption for The Reeds in Centurion to Wednesday.

Several extensions in The Reeds will experience water supply interruptions on August 21 from 08:00 to 16:00.

The metro said in a statement that the work was for a tie-in connection.

“Tshwane will conduct a tie-in connection on the water supply network at The Reeds on the corner of Panorama Road and Markotter Street,” metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo explained in a previous statement.

“Tshwane’s technicians anticipate that the work will last for eight hours and will result in a water supply interruption in all extensions that fall under The Reeds suburb.”

He urged residents to continue to make the following water-conservation measures as part of their normal lifestyle:

– Do not water or irrigate your garden with a hosepipe or sprinkler system between 06:00 and 16:00.
– Do not wash your vehicle with a hosepipe.
– Do not refill your swimming pool.
– Install a low-flow shower head and tap aerators where possible.
– Use a dual-flush toilet cistern.
– Plant indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs in the garden.
– Use a broom instead of a hosepipe to clean a driveway or patio.
– Collect rainwater to re-use in the garden or wash the car
– Cover the swimming pool to reduce water evaporation.
– Take a short shower rather than a bath.
– Close the tap while brushing teeth or shaving.
– Regularly check toilets and taps around the home for leaks.

“Residents are urged to continue using grey water to water gardens and flush toilets. Where possible, water-saving devices should be installed,” said Mashigo.
