A devastating fire on Apache Street in Doornpoort has left a family of six with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
The blaze, which began as a veld fire and rapidly spread to their home, destroyed everything just three weeks after they had moved in.
According to SCPF Sector 4 Chairperson Sjarleen Nienaber, the fire happened yesterday at around 09:12.

“The fire happened yesterday. It started as a veld fire on Apache Street at a plot. Shortly after, the wind picked up, and naturally, with the winds, the palm tree caught fire, and the flames spread further.”
She said the Sinoville Firefighting Association (SBBV) was the first on the scene, and they also requested assistance from Tshwane Fire and Rescue.
“The fire continued for a considerable time and was only fully extinguished after 14:00. The house was purchased three weeks ago by a family consisting of two adults and four children.”
Nienaber said everything in the house was burned and damaged.
“The family only has the clothes they are wearing today.”
Fortunately, there were no animals, and no injuries were reported.
“I would also like to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to SBBV, Tshwane Fire and Rescue, All Security, and the community for their assistance.”
