Mamelodi Sundowns ladies all set for women’s cup in US

The Brazilians are well prepared for the women's cup and Coach Jerry Tshabalala is pleased with their progress.

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have been preparing for the prestigious Women’s Cup tournament in the United States from August 14-17.

The team has been in excellent form, winning their last six games and 17 out of 20 in the Hollywoodbets Super League this season.

Ahead of the tournament, the team played a warm-up fixture against Gaborone United Ladies from Botswana, winning 1-0 with a goal from Nthabiseng Majiya.

Coach Jerry Tshabalala is pleased with the team’s progress.

“We’ve achieved what we wanted from the players, and the mood in camp is positive.”

Sundowns Ladies is facing Kansas City Current in the Women’s Cup today (August 14).

Tshabalala believes the team is determined to perform well, saying, “We’ve watched some of their games, and they play a similar style to ours. We need to be at our best against them.”

He also emphasised the importance of representing African football and inspiring future generations.

“We’re not just playing for the badge, but also to motivate younger players who could be inspired by our performance on the global stage.”

The tournament schedule includes:

– August 14: Sundowns Ladies vs Kansas City Current
– August 14: Atlético de Madrid vs Kobe
– August 17: Championship title match and third-place match
