Missing Moot man recovering in hospital

The 22-year-old Julian Otto, who was last seen in East Lynne, is recovering in hospital after he was found in a stormwater drain in Montana.

The family of 22-year-old Julian Otto, who went missing earlier this week, says he is recovering in hospital after he was found in a stormwater drain in Montana.

His mother, Estella, expressed immense relief at Julian’s safe return, though the family is still trying to piece together the details of what occurred.

“We cannot thank the public and community members enough for all the support and assistance that we have received. However, as a family, we now need some privacy and space to process everything.”

Julian was found on Wednesday afternoon after a community member walking with their dog was alerted to the narrow stormwater drain.

Johan Botha, the founder of the Sinoville Firefighting Association (SBBV) said they responded to the scene.

He said pieces of stormwater drain cover had to be lifted with machinery to get Julian out.

“He would not have been able to get into the narrow stormwater drain, so I suspect he entered from another entrance.

“I am relieved that he has been found. Paramedics stabilised him on the scene before he was transported to the hospital.”

Julian was last seen on Monday afternoon. According to his emails, he ordered an Uber on Monday at 15:00 from Bosloerie Street, and 20 minutes later, he canceled it. After that, his phone was turned off.

Estelle earlier said Julian is on chronic epilepsy medication.

How to report a missing person:

REMEMBER: THERE IS NO WAITING PERIOD TO REPORT A MISSING PERSON

  • Produce a recent photograph of the missing person, if possible.
  • Give a complete description of the missing person’s last whereabouts, clothes that they were wearing, and any information that can assist the investigating officer.
  • Complete and sign a SAPS 55(A) form. This form safeguards the SAPS from hoax reports and indemnifies the SAPS to distribute the photograph and information of the missing person.
  • Obtain the investigating officer’s contact details, and send any additional information that might become available.
  • If a missing person is found or returns voluntarily, inform the investigating officer immediately. A SAPS 92 form must be completed to inform the Bureau of Missing Persons that the missing person’s report can be removed from the circulation system.
