Robbery suspect arrested, vehicle seized

The suspect was wanted for street robberies that had occcured in Brooklyn and Centurion.

Lyttelton Police and Seek Security seized a car and arrested a suspect who was wanted for street robberies in the Centurion and Brooklyn areas on July 22.

Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk said police received information about a silver Datsun Go suspected of being involved in multiple street robberies.

“Following the tip-off, a multi-disciplinary operation was launched with police officers deployed in Centurion.”

He said police searched for a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect’s vehicle.

Van Dyk said the suspect’s vehicle with one occupant was spotted in the Lyttelton area.

“Observation was done for a while, and teams moved into position to execute a takedown,” he said.

“The vehicle was stopped on Kruger Avenue, and the suspect was arrested by Lyttelton police,” said Van Dyk.

He said the vehicle was taken to the designated vehicle crime investigation unit for safeguarding and further investigations.

He added that further investigation is currently underway in linking the suspect to other street robberies.
