Possible eight-hour water supply interruption in West
Residents in Pretoria West can expect water supply interruptions on Tuesday, July 16 due to emergency upgrades to the water supply network in Philip Nel Park.
The metro announced that the planned work would take place at the corner of Transoranje and Quagga roads from 08:00 to 16:00.
Metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the following areas may experience water supply interruptions:
– Kwaggasrand
– Philip Nel Park
– Pretoria Industrial
– Pretoria Industrial Township
– Pretoria Town and Townlands 351-JR
– Proclamation Hill Ext 1
– Skinner Court 254-JR
– Van Zylslaagte 755-JR
– West Park
– West Park extensions 4, 5, 6 and 7
“The city apologises for the inconvenience that may be caused as a result of the upgrades,” said Mashigo.
He urged residents to continue making the following water-conservation measures part of their normal lifestyle:
– Do not water or irrigate gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06:00 and 18:00.
– Do not wash vehicles with hosepipes.
– Do not fill swimming pools.
– Install a low-flow shower head and tap aerators where possible.
– Use a dual-flush toilet cistern.
– Plant indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs in the garden.
– Use a broom instead of a hosepipe when cleaning driveways or patios.
– Collect rainwater to reuse in the garden or wash the car.
– Cover the swimming pool to reduce water evaporation.
– Take a short shower rather than a bath.
– Close a running tap while brushing teeth or shaving.
– Regularly check toilets and taps for leaks.
Mashigo urged residents to continue using grey water to water gardens and flush toilets and to install water-saving devices where possible.
He said residents can report water leaks, burst pipes, and all incidents where water is wasted to the following numbers:
– No water supply, burst pipes, leaking meters or blocked street sewers: 012 358 9999 or 080 1111 556

– Non-payment: 012 345 8514
– Account enquiries: 012 358 9999
