Freitag murder: Rudie Lubbe arrested

It has been confirmed that one of two wanted suspects in the murder of the former high jump champion, Jacques Freitag, was arrested.

One of two wanted suspects in connection with the murder of the former high jump champion, Jacques Freitag, was arrested on Tuesday.

Specialist private investigator Mike Bolhuis confirmed the arrest of Rudie Lubbe.

“He did not hand himself over to the police but was arrested at about 10am. Oosthuizen is still at large,” Bolhuis revealed.

“Lubbe will be transported to the Hercules Police Station, where the murder case of Freitag is under investigation.”

Neither Bolhuis nor the police could yet confirm Chantelle Oosthuizen’s arrest.

This comes after the Hercules police obtained warrants of arrest for Lubbe and Oosthuizen last week.

It is believed they were on the run from the law following the discovery of Freitag’s body on July 1.
