Laerskool Wonderboom hosts wildlife festival to raise funds for the school

The school’s spokesperson Karleen Pieterson said the event was a success in bringing the community together for a fun-filled night of food, entertainment.

Laerskool Wonderboom hosted its annual Grade 7 school fundraiser, the Wonderboom Lekkerbek Wildlife Festival, on Saturday, July 13.

The event was hosted at the Lavender Kontrei Mark.

The school’s spokesperson Karleen Pieterson said the event was a success in bringing the community together for a fun-filled night of food, entertainment, and shopping.

“This event was one of the highlights of our school calendar, giving our community the opportunity to come together and raise money for our school’s projects and improvements,” said Pieterson.

She said the festival featured a range of activities and attractions, including venison food stalls where expert chefs prepared delicious dishes, with all grades of the school involved.

Pieterson added that there were also several stalls selling local products, handicrafts, and delicacies, which were fully supported by the community.

Live entertainment was provided by musical performances from Drommedaris, Liezel Pieters, Chris Steyn, Riaan Benade, Appel, and Early B, with Vanes-Marie du Toit serving as the Master of Ceremonies.

The children were kept entertained with a giant amusement park and toys for sale.

They also had a special VIP area set up to pamper the school management, sponsors, and community.

Pieterson said the event was made possible through the generous contributions of major sponsors, including Arrie Nel Pharmacy, Build it, Kings Hire, CIM Lubricants, and Lavender Kontrei Market.

She expressed her gratitude to all of the fundraiser’s sponsors.

“Your contributions not only made the Lekkerbek Game Festival a success, but it also had a positive impact on our school and community,” she said.

Thanks also went to everyone who attended and participated in the activities.

“The funds raised during the festival will be used to improve the school’s infrastructure, purchase educational materials, and support additional educational programmes,” said Pieterson.
