Atteridgeville stadium reaches out to football clubs

With the new PSL season set to begin next, Moya says that residents can expect Masterpiece’s stadium to host their favourite teams for training and fixtures.

The Lucas “Masterpieces” Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville hopes to attract partnerships with professional football teams ahead of the upcoming season.

Tshwane Deputy Mayor, Dr Nasiphi Moya conducted a site visit to the stadium on June 1 and said that even though touch-ups are still needed, the stadium is ready to host the biggest games and teams in the country.

The flood lights have been repaired

“One of the main issues at the facility was non-functional flood lights. These lights are crucial to ensuring that the stadium is well-lit for use at night and during cloudy weather days. I was pleased to see that the floodlights were repaired and ready to help ensure that tournaments are not disrupted by a lack of visibility,” Moya said.

The visit is a follow-up from a similar one on May 24 of this year when maintenance issues were brought to the deputy mayor’s attention.

“Delivering functioning sport and recreational facilities in Tshwane remains a top priority for the multiparty administration as part of our effort to nurture sports development in our communities,” Moya said.

With the new PSL season set to begin, Moya said that residents can expect Masterpiece’s stadium to host their favourite teams for training and fixtures.

“Lucas Moripe Stadium is an iconic stadium in Tshwane and its well-maintained pitch serves as a beacon of hope for the city’s tourism and revenue generation. As we prepare for the latest soccer league, we had to ensure that we as a city are ready to host successful tournaments. Residents are encouraged to support these tournaments by buying tickets and enjoying the comradeship,” Moya said.
