Alleged drug dealers bust in Pretoria North

The five suspects were found in possession of heroin, mandrax and crystal meth

Pretoria North police in collaboration with the Soshanguve K9 unit, Tshwane Metro Police drug unit and local patrollers arrested five suspected drug dealers in Pretoria North on Wednesday, July 3.

The team conducted the operation after receiving a tip-off about suspicious people in Emily Hobhouse Avenue.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Duane Lightfoot said the team proceeded to the location and pounced on two men.

“A plastic [bag] containing heroin was found in possession of the suspects and they were immediately arrested,” said Lightfoot.

He said more information later emerged which led the team to the corner of Veldkornet Roos and East streets.

“Three more suspects were arrested after they were found in possession of crystal meth and mandrax.

“The estimated street value of the drugs is approximately R10 000,” said Lightfoot.

He mentioned that the suspects were detained at Pretoria North police station for further investigation and will appear in court soon.

Residents are urged to report those who sell drugs to their nearest police station or on the Crime Stop number, 08600 10111.
