Shoot-out leads to accident on Ruimte Road

“A female patient sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a trauma facility.”

Alleged robbers fleeing from law enforcement during an intense shoot-out, caused an accident when their vehicle crashed into two civilian vehicles on Wednesday afternoon.

The accident on Ruimte Road in Centurion was reported just after 13:00 on June 25.

Three suspects were reportedly arrested, while one managed to flee.

Emergency services non-profit CERT-SA said that one patient was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after the accident.

“On Wednesday afternoon, around 13:15, our Centurion crew responded to a motor vehicle collision on Ruimte Road, near Heuweloord.”

CERT-SA said that the suspect’s vehicle rolled over and collided with two vehicles.

“A female patient sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a trauma facility.”

CERT-SA said that two other people suffered minor injuries, while three suspects were apprehended with minor to moderate injuries.

“All patients were transported to hospital in a stable condition.”

It said that police were investigating the incident and processing the scene for evidence.

Rekord reached out to the SAPS for comment but had not received any at the time of publishing.

Vision Tactical said that the suspects were spotted following a robbery, leading to a high-speed chase and shoot-out.

“The suspects collided with another vehicle, resulting in serious injuries to its occupants, who were flown to Millpark by Netcare,” the security service said in a statement on X.

“Three suspects were arrested, one escaped, and firearms were recovered at the scene.”
