The suspects are facing charges of possession of stolen property

The Lyttelton police, in collaboration with E2 security partners, have successfully recovered a stolen crop planter machine and arrested two suspects in Centurion.

According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk, one suspect was arrested on Thursday, June 20 after the recovery. Another suspect was apprehended on the morning of Friday, June 21.

Van Dyk said the equipment was reported stolen in the Free State province.

He stated, “Members of security companies and police were notified to be on the lookout.”

Van Dyk said the security partner spotted the planter being transported on a trailer by a Nissan bakkie in Centurion and immediately contacted the Lyttelton police.

“The police stopped the vehicle, confirmed the equipment was stolen, and arrested the driver,” said van Dyk.

He said further investigation led to the arrest of an additional suspect in the Marabastad area, with the assistance of Saps K9, Lyttelton police, and private security teams.

He said the suspects are facing charges of possession of stolen property.

They are expected to appear before the Pretoria Magistrates Court soon.

He said the management of Lyttelton Saps commends all members involved in this successful operation.
