Gauteng faces 37-day Rand Water extensive maintenance disruption

Consumers in some parts of Gauteng will experience long supply disruptions when it embarks on a 37-day maintenance work schedule.

and Water has notified consumers in some parts of Gauteng that they will experience long supply disruptions when it embarks on a 37-day maintenance work schedule.

The water utility said the planned maintenance is aimed at preserving the lifespan of its infrastructure and improving its reliability during the higher summer demand period.

“This essential maintenance work will involve the replacement of Rand Water’s bulk water meters that supply various reservoirs in Tshwane.”

The City of Tshwane will provide water through tankers to the affected areas.

“The City apologises for the inconvenience that may be encountered as a result of the above­mentioned maintenance programme.”

Here are the reservoirs that will be affected:
The City’s reservoirs that are supplied by Rand Water’s Palmiet System will be affected on different dates as follows.
• 1 July 2024: Pumping at 60% for eight hours
* 15 July 2024: Pumping at 68% for two days
* 29 July 2024: Pumping at 76% The following reservoirs will be affected:
* Akasia Reservoir
* Bakenkop Reservoir
• Blair Athol Reservoir: Blair Athol (all extensions), Monaghan (all extensions), Rietfontein 532-JQ, Riverside Estate 497-JQ and Vlakfontein 494-JQ • Brakfontein Reservoir:
* Lotus Gardens Reservoir:
• Louwlardia Reservoir:
* Saulsville • Soshanguve DD

The City’s reservoirs that are supplied by Rand Water’s Mapleton System will also be affected on different dates as follows:
• 5 July 2024: Pumping at 73% for 14 hours
* 19 July 2024: Three of the water utility’s bulk meters located at Willow Acres, Kwagga and Nellmapius will have no supply for 12 hours
* 26 July 2024: No pumping at the Mapleton System for three days

  • Koedoesnek LL Reservoir: 
  • Magalieskruin Reservoir
  • Mamelodi R1 Reservoir
  • Montana Reservoir
  • Moreleta Reservoir
  • Parkmore HL Reservoir
  • Parkmore LL Reservoir
  • Queenswood Reservoir
  • Sinoville HL Reservoir
  • Sinoville LL Reservoir
  • Villieria Peak Tanks
  • Waverley HL Reservoir
  • Waverley LL Reservoir
  • Koedoesnek Reservoir
  • Mooikloof Reservoir
  • Nellmapius Reservoir
  • Sammy Marks Museum Meter
  • Savannah Meter: Christal Villa, N4 Gateway, Savannah Country Estate and The Blyde
  • Shere Meter: Bronberg (all extensions)
