Planned water shutdown in parts of Pretoria North this week

The interruption is due to scheduled maintenance on Tuesday, June 4 from 08:00 to 16:00.

Part of Heatherview and nearby areas in the north of Pretoria will experience water supply interruptions on Tuesday, June 4.

Metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said metro artisans will carry out a tie-in connection to the network.

“The City of Tshwane will carry out a tie-in connection of a 315mm diameter water pipeline to a water supply network in Heatherview, along the northern side of Rachel De Beer Street and the eastern side of Mabopane Highway,” said Mashigo.

This essential work will take up to ten hours, scheduled from 08:00 to 18:00.

The following areas will be affected:

– Clarina

– Heatherdale AH

– Residents between Rachel De Beer Street and Daan De Wet Nel Drive.

“Tshwane apologises for the inconvenience that may be caused by the above-mentioned tie-in connection,” said Mashigo.

He urged resident to continue to make the following water-conservation measures part of their normal lifestyle:

– Do not water or irrigate your garden with a hosepipe or sprinkler system between 06:00 and 18:00.

– Do not wash your vehicle with a hosepipe.

– Do not refill your swimming pool.

– Install a low-flow shower head and tap aerators where possible.

– Use a dual-flush toilet cistern.

– Use a broom instead of a hosepipe to clean a driveway or patio.

– Collect rainwater to reuse in the garden or wash the car.

– Cover the swimming pool to reduce water evaporation.

– Take a short shower rather than a bath.

– Close the tap while brushing teeth or shaving.

– Regularly check toilets and taps around the home for leaks.

He urged residents to report water leaks, burst pipes and all water wastage to the metro.
