No arrests made yet in Centurion woman’s murder

Xoliswa Radebe, a 26-year-old IT business analyst, was murdered in her apartment at The Junction in Centurion on the first weekend of May.

Police have yet to make an arrest in connection with the murder of a 26-year-old woman at her apartment at The Junction in Centurion.

Xoliswa Radebe was suspected to have been killed between Friday, May 3 and Sunday, May 5, before her body was found on Tuesday, May 7.

Tshwane SAPS spokesperson, Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk confirmed on May 28 that no arrests had been made.

He said that he could not provide more information while police investigated Radebe’s murder.

Her family said they were left with no closure, as they struggled to come to terms with their loss.

Aunt Phindile Radebe said her family was hoping that the police would make headway soon.

“It doesn’t make sense to me that this is taking so long. We are hurting,” she told Rekord.

“Someone could become a victim while her killer is free.”

On Saturday, May 25, she said that community members from Duduza, where Radebe grew up, came together for a candle-lighting service.

She said the police had told them it could take some time before her killer was brought to justice.

She last tried to contact her niece on Sunday, May 5, but the call never went through.

“At the time I thought it could have been a network issue.”

However, on Tuesday, May 7, Radebe’s body was found after neighbours reported a bad smell coming from her apartment.

Her funeral was held on Saturday, May 11, as the advanced decomposition had meant that her funeral needed to be held soon after her body was discovered.

“Her funeral was so painful. Her murderer took everything from us, even this last respect to her.”

According to the advocacy non-profit organisation, Women for Change, Radebe was beaten to death.
