Cold weekend expected for Pretoria

The weather services said a cold weekend is expected in Pretoria due to the widespread snow expected in other parts of South Africa.

Prepare yourselves! A cold weekend is on the horizon for Pretoria, a direct result of the widespread snowfall anticipated in other parts of South Africa.

According to Snow News, cold to bitterly cold conditions are expected across the entire country this weekend as winter arrives with a vengeance.

“The cold front of a strong frontal depression is expected to make landfall to the Cape Of Storms this Thursday.

“As if the cold front is not enough, a Cut-Off Low-Pressure System (COL) is also expected to develop just west of South Africa on Saturday, bringing even further adverse weather to large parts of South Africa.”

It explained that when a robust cold front like this one arrives after months of warm weather, it often takes people by surprise.

This unexpected shift can lead to stock losses and even endanger lives, as the sudden drop in temperature is not anticipated. It’s a reminder of the importance of being prepared for any weather event.

“It will be the first cold front in at least seven months to bring a significant drop in temperatures and possible snow to large parts of South Africa.

“The cold front will bring cool to cold conditions to the western, central and southern parts of Namibia; and western and parts of central South Africa on Thursday, spreading to most parts of South Africa on Friday, except the extreme northern and north-eastern parts.”

It said the cold to very cold weather conditions are expected to persist over most parts of South Africa until next week.

Morning frost is also expected to develop over large parts of the country next week.

“Make sure to stay warm, avoid travelling on icy roads and be prepared for the high possibility of load shedding to return.”
