In a dramatic rescue operation, emergency responders saved a 45-year-old woman and her faithful dog from a blazing house fire.

Tragically, they were trapped inside, unable to escape due to being locked in.

The fire was reported at the house in Menlo Park at around 07:19 on Monday morning.

“Once the resident was out safely, we began extinguishing the fire with fire extinguishers,” the report stated.

The woman was transported to the hospital via Netcare 911 HEMS from Hoërskool Menlopark.

“A small dog was also safely freed from the fire, but her parrot died. Firefighters from the City of Tshwane Emergency Services Department battled the blaze and extinguished the fire that gutted the living room and ceiling.”
