Man shot and injured in Centurion armed robbery

A man was shot and injured in an armed robbery at a shopping centre in Eldoraigne, just off Saxby Road. Here is the latest. 

Paramedics said a man was shot and injured in an armed robbery at a shopping centre in Eldoraigne, just off Saxby Road on Wednesday afternoon. 

According to Cert-SA their Centurion crew responded to reports of a shooting at around 13:00. 

“A man in his 40s was shot and wounded during an alleged robbery incident at a clothing store in the shopping centre.” 

It furthermore said the man was shot in the arm and leg. 

Bystanders assisted in stopping the bleeding while waiting for emergency services to arrive. 

“On arrival, we found the man lying on the floor just outside the clothing store, with obvious blood loss from his arm and leg.” 

Cert-SA said the man was stabilised on scene and transported to a nearby hospital in a critical but stable condition. 

Police have not yet confirmed or provided any information regarding the shooting. 

Meanwhile, four Zimbabwean nationals were arrested in Centurion with counterfeit petroleum oil products worth over R200 000.

According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk, a team obtained a search and seizure warrant and proceeded to the identified address in Monavoni, a suburb on the outskirts of Centurion. 

The operation was a joint effort, with members from the National Counterfeit Unit and Commercial Crimes Investigations (CCI) working hand in hand with brand protectors to operationalize the gathered information.

As a result of this operation, over 3000 litres of petroleum oil, imitating well-known brands, were seized. Subsequently, four Zimbabwean nationals were arrested. The Department of Home Affairs will now verify their residency status.
