Sinoville Crisis Center relaunched over the weekend

The relaunch was aimed at creating awareness in the community as many people are unaware of the crisis center at the Sinoville police station.

The Sinoville Crisis Center was relaunched at the Sinoville police station on Saturday.

The new CEO of the center, Fredi van der Walt, said they are relaunching the center for three reasons.

She said they want to introduce the new management of the center to the community.

“We also want to create awareness in the community because a lot of people don’t know that there is a crisis center on the premises of the Sinoville police station,” said Fredi.

She said that the center is a non-profit organization and depends on funds from donations and fundraising to serve and work for the community.

Fredi added that at this stage they only have enough funds to carry them through two months and need more to carry on with the good work after that.

This year the center, founded by forensic criminologist Dr. Pixie Du Toit, celebrates its 25th anniversary.

Dr du Toit decided to start the center with the aim of looking after the victims of crime.

The acting station commander of Sinoville police station, Lt. Colonel Xolani Nduku, said the station is fortunate to have a crisis center next to it.

He stated “The center is helping us a lot, and we don’t have to go somewhere to look for assistance. We are working hand in hand with the center, and the working relationship should not end now. The center is helping with drug and domestic violence victims.”

He further said the police station is also fortunate to have the support and commitment of the community in fighting crime.
