Hercules CPF warns residents to be on the lookout for suspicious vehicles

The CPF has received reports of two incidents of suspicious vehicles in the area on Tuesday, April 2.

The Hercules CPF is warning residents around Suiderberg to be on the lookout for suspicious vehicles after an attempted robbery and kidnapping incident took place on April 2.

Hercules CPF Sector 1 management issued a statement on its social media page stating that multiple suspects in a VW Polo were involved.

“We received a report of a navy-coloured VW Polo (no number plates) with four males at Suiderberg School who tried to abduct a young lady at gunpoint. She managed to get away safely,” the statement read.

“We also received another call of a suspicious silver/grey VW Polo with five males driving in Vetrivier Street. At one stage it stopped in front of a home. When the lady who was at home opened the window, they drove away very fast,” it said.

The CPF is urging residents to take note of the number plates and the number of occupants in any vehicle they consider to be suspicious.

“Please be vigilant when out on the street during the day or night. Report suspicious people in the vehicle. Make sure to get as enough detail as possible,” the statement concluded.

When identifying a suspicious vehicle, keep an eye out for details such as the model, make, colour, shape, registration, markings and any damage.

Suspects may be identified by the following details: hair colour, length (long/short), clothes, glasses (prescription/sunglasses), skin tone (light/medium/dark), scars, tattoos, facial hair (bearded, clean-shaven, moustache), accessories such as jewellery, and whether they were armed (wielding a gun/knife/club).

Residents are advised to call the CPF at 064 500 8314 or their local police station should they observe any suspicious vehicle they’d like to report.
