Elderly woman, animal rescue organisation desperately looking for dog stolen with car

The one-eyed yorkie male dog Vickey was stolen with her owner's car on February 20 near the Zambezi Spar.

An animal rescue organisation is desperately searching for Vickey, a one-eyed male Yorkie that was inside her owner’s car on February 20 in the north of Pretoria.

The elderly Miemie Lues’ silver Honda Jazz was stolen next to Zambezi Spar on the corner of Sefako Makgatho Drive and Moloto Road. Her dog Vickey was in the car at the time.

According to Marthina Jansen van Rensburg, director of Zambilife NPC, Lues left him in the vehicle in the shade with open windows and quickly went into the Spar for only a minute.

“Inside Spar someone bumped into her with his trolley and allegedly stole her car keys. When Lues finished shopping and looked for her key, it was gone and so was her vehicle,” said Jansen van Rensburg.

She said Vickey has one eye and was recently shaved.

“We distributed flyers in the Denneboom, Mamelodi and Mahube areas so far, but up to date we have not received a single sighting of Vickey.”

Jansen van Rensburg said they have decided to put up a reward to motivate those with information to come forward.

“We are currently receiving donations to combine and put the reward up. Vickey’s owner desperately wants to be reunited with her dog.”

She also implored motorists to look out for the silver Honda Jazz (BP 09 NZ GP).

“Although the dog is more of a priority than the missing car,” she said.

Anyone with information can contact Marthina Jansen van Rensburg on 082 895 7807 or their nearest police station.
