Akasia police sergeant arrested for alleged murder of husband

The husband died in hospital after sustaining four gunshot wounds.

Police watchdog, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) have arrested an Akasia sergeant for the murder of her husband.

Spokesperson Robbie Raburabu said it is alleged that things took a wrong turn when the husband pulled a gun on his wife during an argument around 00:30 on Sunday, January 28.

“The husband had allegedly taken the sergeant’s official firearm from her handbag.”

He said the sergeant grabbed the firearm from the husband as the pair scuffled.

“The firearm was discharged during the scuffle and the husband sustained four gunshot wounds,” Raburabu said.

He said he later died in hospital

The sergeant will appear in court soon.
