Man killed in shooting at filling station in Karenpark

The man was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead.

Local police are investigating a case of murder after the fatal shooting of a man at a filling station in Karenpark, Akasia on Thursday morning, January 25.

According to police, the man was shot multiple times inside his vehicle.

Spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk said Akasia police responded to a shooting complaint at a filling station, in Karenpark.

“Upon arrival, the team was shown a silver vehicle which was allegedly involved in the shooting.”

Van Dyk said police searched the vehicle and found a deceased man.

“The man found bleeding in the car seemed to have been shot several times in his body,” he said.

Van Dyk said emergency services were summoned to the scene and they declared the man deceased.

He said bullet casings were recovered at the scene and police are investigating a case of murder.

He pleaded with residents who have information to come forward.

“The station is also appealing to anyone to come forward with more information on the shooting or contact the Akasia police station at 012 564 0700.

Residents can choose to remain anonymous when sharing information,” he said.
