Mamelodi Residents are left without water for more than 11 hours

Pipe leak leaves reservoirs supplying Mamelodi dry

Mamelodi residents have been without water for the past 11 hours due to a pipe leak.

The Metro’s spokesperson, Lindela Mashigo, said the city’s technicians are aware of the water outage affecting the residents that are supplied by the Mamelodi R3 and R4 reservoirs.

“The outage was caused by a major pipe leak on the supply line that feeds both reservoirs. A team of technicians is busy with repair work which started last night and is still ongoing.

Residents and businesses are therefore informed that the stored water in both reservoirs is depleted,” said Mashigo.

He further said that the metro understood the residents’ frustration and the inconvenience that has been caused by this unplanned supply interruption, adding that as the administration they have arranged for tankers to supply the affected residents with water.

“The City of Tshwane sincerely apologises for the inconvenience that may be encountered as a result of this unplanned water interruption”.
