Nokuthula Hlatshwayo was so excited on her first day. She has been wearing her Irene Primary school uniform since she got it.

Wednesday, January 17, marked the first day at “big school” for Grade 1 learners across the Capital City, which came with the usual fanfare, tears and brave smiles.

Rekord visited numerous schools in the area to document this milestone in the new learners’ school careers.
