Please come reclaim your lost pet, animal shelter pleads

The shelter has experienced an influx of lost animals during December and early January.

Wollies animal shelter in Pretoria North calls on all pet owners who lost their beloved pets during the festive season to visit its premises as it has picked up a lot of lost and stray animals.

Cilla Trexler, founder of Wollies said the shelter has an influx of lost animals picked up in December and early January.

“December is perhaps the month we fear the most with all the fireworks and people going on vacation. Animals venture out, get injured, and some even get lost, eventually finding their way to us,” Trexler said.

Trexler said the shelter always welcomes all animals with open arms.

“We appreciate every animal that arrives safely in our care, as we know we will be able to take care of it and help it make its way back home,” she said.

Trexler called on people to make their way to the premises to identify their pets.

“We hope that most people will actively search for their beloved pets, especially since the holidays are over. However, it is disheartening to see that only a small number of animals are reclaimed.

“Instead they become part of our extended family, staying with us for months or even years.

She said the facility is currently overcrowded due to this situation.

“We will always help and welcome all animals but we plead with the public to help us in this regard and reclaim their pets.”

She thanked all the people who continue to support and donate to the shelter.

Visit the shelter at 101 Rooikat Street, Hesteapark, Pretoria North (Entrance in Mastiff Street) or contact the shelter at 083 339 1692 or wollies.cillat@gmail.com to identify your pet.
